CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT IN THE COST AND QUALITY OF HEALTHCARE
General Information

What is a Healthcare Coalition?

Across the nation, employers, union trusts and other health-plan sponsors have united to establish more than eighty healthcare coalitions.  The concept for healthcare coalitions is simple:  Leverage the collective size and resources of a group of organizations to influence the cost, quality and access to healthcare services in a community, region, state or the nation as a whole.

Healthcare coalitions vary in the scope of services they provide – some purchase services such as those for pharmacy benefits, some create their own physician networks, some are very active in community health improvement initiatives and some simply disseminate information and provide for networking opportunities.  Regardless of these differences, the core mission to help members maximize the value of the benefits they provide employees is constant.

Employers Health has been recognized for its accomplishments by its colleagues and the National Business Coalition on Health as the recipient of NBCH’s first annual Membership Award in 2005.

"As healthcare is becoming more important to everyone - consumers, employers and providers - I am impressed with the way the Coalition takes responsibility for making sure that the whole system benefits while maintaining the best interests of employers."
